Our Story

Hi, my name is Tram Kastamo — one of the Co-Founders.

In 2020, my sister and I opened our first restaurant called Saiga Vietnamese Eatery to share our love for Vietnamese food using our mom’s recipes. Raising young kids and running a restaurant at the time, I often needed quick, convenient meals — but nothing in the grocery store reflected the Vietnamese flavors I grew up with. I realized there was a gap — not just for my family – but for anyone craving familiar, comforting meals from our culture.

That’s when we set out to change the freezer aisle. With my mom and sister’s help, we developed a frozen version of our restaurant phở – testing broth, noodles, and packaging – to make it possible for families everywhere to enjoy the flavors of Vietnam – right from their local grocery store.

Family has always been at the heart of everything we do. The recipes we share today were inspired by the meals we love — the bữa cơm gia đình (family meals) that brought us comfort and connection.

As a family-run business, we carry those same values into everything we do: staying true to our roots, treating our team and customers like family, and never compromising on quality or integrity. Saiga Foods is more than a brand — it’s our family’s story, shared through every bowl.

As a self-funded, in-house manufacturer, growth has come with many challenges. We wear many hats — balancing production, distribution, marketing, and team development.

Despite this, we’ve stayed true to our values: maintaining quality, preserving truyền thống (tradition), and building a workplace where employees feel like family. By keeping production in our family’s hands, we ensure every detail reflects the values we care about — quality, honesty, and cultural heritage.

In 2021, we started asking a simple question: How can we bring authentic Vietnamese comfort food into more homes?

What began as a small family-owned restaurant turned into countless hours of recipe testing, packaging trials, USDA approvals, and learning everything we could about the frozen food industry.

In 2022, we created our first frozen Pho prototype.

In 2024, we launched our first products in stores.

Today, in 2026, Saiga Foods can be found in retailers across the country—and we’re just getting started.

As immigrant founders, sisters, engineers, restaurant owners, and now food manufacturers, this journey has been filled with challenges, setbacks, and incredible support from our customers, retail partners, and community.
